Colton: “My name is Colton and I am 6 years old! I am a sweet little boy who loves to give kisses and hugs. I am part of a new program at The EIC that incorporates speech into my ABA therapy. My Mommy is very happy about this because I am saying all kinds of new words. When she asks, “Who do you love?” I can answer “Ma” now! I am also starting to say my ABC’s and ask for things using words. I have also been working on matching items, identifying my body parts, completing patterns, and writing letters. All of this is very new to me, but I catch on very quickly. My family and I can’t wait to see all of the new things I will be able to do with more help from the staff at The EIC!”
Jackson: Hi! My name is Jackson and I am 5 years old. I have 2 older sisters that I really like to play with. At school I am learning how to play with my new friends! Sometimes I forget to look at the person I am talking to, but I am working on it! I love to go outside and play with trains and tunnels and climb up the slide! I am also learning how to use the potty like a big boy! I love when my parents and therapists get excited when I’ve done something right, so I try really hard to please them!
Hayden: My name is Hayden and I am 4 ½ years old. I have a big sister named Harper and a little dog named Belle. I like when they play with me because I do not have a lot of friends. I do not talk yet, but I said my first word last Saturday. I said “Ma-Ma.” I have attended the EIC for 3 weeks. Imagine what I will be able to do after spending more time with the staff at EIC. Now that it is summer, I love to swing and jump on our trampoline outside.
Jake: My name is Jake and I am 3 years old. I have a dog named Milo and I love to go outsideand play ball with my dad. I like to ride my tricycle and play outside on the swings. At school I am learning how to communicate with sounds and pictures…I am not there yet, but I am trying hard! I am also learning how to identify colors and categories, and match pictures to objects. Sometimes when I get frustrated I throw my toys, but I am working on that!
Taylor: Hello, I am a fun lovable boy named Taylor. I am 2 years old and love my parents very much. But because I have autism, I can not say the words “I LOVE YOU Mommy and Daddy.” I am very good at working puzzles and scribbling with crayons. I am working very hard at a special school to learn how to understand what people are saying to me; how to tell people if I am hungry or thirsty, and of course how to say “I LOVE YOU!”
Daniel: I’m Daniel and I am 4 years old. I have 2 older brothers and an older sister, but I am different from them because I have autism. This makes it hard for me to tell people what I am thinking. At school I am learning to use more words to ask for things. I am also learning how to use a pencil and color in the lines. When I am at home I like to help cook in the kitchen and sing and dance with my family.
Sophia: Hi! My name is Sophia and I have autism. I am 4 years old and I have an older brother named Jake. I used to be able to say “Mama” and “Dada” but I forgot how. I am learning how to make sounds again at school. I am also working on matching pictures to objects and my fine motor skills. I love it when people sing to me, especially Jack & Jill or the Itsy Bitsy Spider. I also like to play with dolls and do puzzles.
Michael: Hi, my name is Michael and I am 6 ½ years old. I have a big sister named Lila and a little brother named Anthony. I like to play with them when I get home from school. Because I have Autism it is hard for me to tell people how I feel, but I am working on it! At school I am also learning how to sound out words and count objects. I really like to go to the gym and play basketball or go outside to the playground and swings.
Daniel: Hi! I am Daniel and I am almost 5. I have an older sister and when we were little we used to live in Mexico. I am having fun learning new things at school, like matching and copying what other people do! I am also trying really hard to share all of my toys with my new friends. I really like to run, jump and climb on things and I love being tickled. I like to show my mom how much I love her with all the kisses I give her.
